Our History

Our story began in 2001 with Marie Stone as the sole owner and operator. Her love for cleaning and helping others expanded her client base to where she needed to hire help in keeping up with the continued demand. Her high-quality cleaning style, business ethics, and strong relations with her customers grew the business significantly through word of mouth referrals over the next several years.

Still today, 95% of our customer base is through referrals from existing clients, a true testament to the company’s commitment to providing top quality service, and fostering meaningful business relations.

We offer respect and loyalty to an amazing staff, which in turn provides our clients with the benefit of trusting, consistent, well-trained individuals. The result? We have an excellent retention rate which allows our customers to have the quality and consistency they deserve.

All our employees understand the value and commitment we place on our customer relations and go through a stringent training program before being assigned their own client homes. Each cleaner works independently with our clients, not in teams. This promotes good relations, better accountability and trust. We also never use subcontractors.

Marie Stone, OwnerMarie Stone

Owner & Managing Director

Marie founded upper crust cleaning co. In 2001 here in Washington state. She is a native, growing up in bellevue. She has two grown children that now reside in the Seattle area that are busily creating their own lives and careers. She lives in maple valley where our offices are located. She is a dog lover and has her wonderful companion, Oliver, an english cream retriever always by her side. He is a certified therapy dog. Marie loves the outdoors, enjoying hiking, gardening, interior design and space planning. She is an efficiency and organizational expert, a full-fledged foodie as well and has strong knowledge in health and nutrition. She is also a certified health coach. Her main role with the company is to be the vision for its growth and always strive toward excellence. She is committed to giving our clients the best experience possible!

Shoshannah HarrisonShoshannah Harrison

Office Manager

Shoshannah first joined Upper Crust Cleaning Co. in 2014 as a house cleaner while her kids were in school because of its offered flexibility. She left the company for a while but now that her two daughters are grown, has returned to us as Office Manager. Shoshannah keeps our operation running smooth and nurtures its continued growth as well as connecting wonderfully with both our clients and staff. She has lived in Maple Valley with her husband of over 25 years and enjoys her precious family time. She is truly passionate about animals and has a wide range of interests including books, puzzles and baking.

Rachel Paulsen

Sales & Marketing

Rachel began her journey with us in June of 2018. She is a Washington native and grew up in maple valley, graduating from Tahoma high school in 2016. She is currently engaged and planning a wedding with her high school sweetheart for the summer of 2020. Rachel loves spending her free time outdoors in the beautiful PNW and loves hiking and swimming at the nearby lakes with friends. She and her fiancé also have a cat named mochi. Rachel does a wonderful job keeping the company on track by supporting the office with scheduling, payroll, inventory, marketing and quality control. She also works for the company part time cleaning homes as needed.

Anastasis EstradaAnastasis Estrada

House Cleaner,Specialized Cleaner,Organization

Ana joined our cleaning team in the spring of 2018. She has always loved cleaning and having 4 years of experience before coming to work for our company, would like to own a house cleaning company of her own someday. She grew up in Oregon then relocated to Washington a few years ago to be united with her long-distance boyfriend of then 2 years. Both are working diligently to save for college. Ana and her boyfriend have a white long-haired cat named spooky who likes to act like a dog by fetching and doing tricks for treats. They recently adopted another feline named creepy to keep spooky company. Ana’s hobbies include doing hair and makeup, interior design, and spending time with her family. She is our headline house cleaner to tackle some of our biggest jobs such as deep and move in/out cleanings. She also is excellent with organization and space planning. Ana is a joy and always aims to please her regular clients as well.

Robin BrownRobin Brown

Master House Cleaner

Robin started work with the company in the spring of 2006. Born and raised in Washington state, she has lived in south king county for 45 years. She was widowed several years ago but has a wonderful grown daughter she is very close to that lives close by. Her hobbies include a lifelong love affair with horses and is a past Washington state record holder in her favorite sport, patterned speed racing with her horses. She is also an accomplished artist but now focuses on her love for cooking healthy meals, hanging out on Facebook, and playing with her fabulous kitty, Ms. Taffy. Robin has not only served us as one of our master house cleaners but has also provided support working in the office for a couple years. Her clients form close bonds with her as she has a pure heart.

Kris GranlundKris Granlund

Master Housecleaner

Kris has been employed with upper crust cleaning co. Since the fall of 2004. She always has a smile on her face and a great attitude. She is a native of Washington, living in maple valley since 1976 with her husband of over 30 years. Kris has 3 beautiful children, now grown; two that still reside in the area and one that now lives out of state. She also has 2 fur babies named Ray Lewis and Maximus Aralias that she adores and loves taking on walks. She is a huge Seattle sports fan and coached her kids in fast pitch, soccer, basketball, volleyball, lacrosse and football. Kris loves hiking, movies, playing cards and spending time with friends. She is our brightest star and the longest-team member of our business family. Her clients adore her.

Kim StephensKim Stephens

Master House Cleaner

Kim has been a team member working for upper crust cleaning co since the summer of 2007. Kim lives in maple valley with her husband of over 35 years and has 2 grown children that also live in the area. Kim discovered the joy of becoming a grandmother a few years ago and loves spending time with her grandbabies whenever she can. She enjoys her free time dedicated to her family and has a passion for animals, loves training and working with her dogs, as well as time outdoors going on walks in nature. Kim also has an interest in nutrition and wellness. She loves her clients and takes pride in caring for their homes as one of our master house cleaners.

Kelly Kelly Shaughnessy

House Cleaner

Kelly was hired to work for our company in the winter of 2014. She has lived in Ravensdale for over 20 years and married for 40. She has 2 wonderful daughters that are both grown; one daughter lives in Nashville and the other in maple valley. Kelly has recently become a grandmother as well, visiting her little pride and joy as much as she possibly can. She is a cosmetologist by trade for the past 35 years and practices her art of hair while working for upper crust cleaning co. Part time. Kelly has 2 dogs named Colton and lily as well as 2 horses named honey and penny, chickens, a bird, and a turtle named flow. Kelly is a joy to be around and is always polite and generous.

Hillary KintzHillary Kintz

House Cleaner

Hillary joined Upper Crust Cleaning Co. the winter of 2020. She is a native of Issaquah and takes advantage of living in the Northwest. Hillary is a helicopter pilot and loves to teach others to fly and take people on tours over the Seattle area. In addition, she enjoys camping/hiking, downhill skiing, and riding her horse named Scooby. Of course, she also enjoys spending time with her husband Drew, her family, and her Brittany spaniel named Stetson.

VIP & Mascot (Very Important Puppy)

Oliver came to us all the way from Idaho in October of 2015. He is our office mascot and official greeter. He is extremely helpful with many office procedures as well. He recently became a certified therapy dog with the hopes of spending time with children who are critically ill, helping them to feel loved and safe (when he isn’t working of course). He enjoys chewing on bones, chasing the ball and playing with his favorite toys krinkle mouse and Fanny the flamingo, especially while we are on office calls. He also loves swimming and going for rides in the car. Oliver always has a smile on his face and has been commended for his excellent people skills.
